Foundation Website Now Active

We are exited to announce that the website for the Susan Mortensen Turley Foundation is now active and can be found at www.susanmturley.org.

Information about the 5k benefit run can be found there, along with other information about the purpose and mission of the foundation, and how to donate.

Susan's Run Registration

Registration for Susan's Run is now active. There will be a 5K run and a 1 mile fun run. The cost will be $20 and $10 respectively.

Susan's Run

One of Susan's wishes was to help others like her, with cancer, but who are unable to afford treatments. In order to do so we have since set up a foundation in her name and are starting to raise money to help those who are not as fortunate to have insurance.

We are excited to announce our first benefit, which will be a race. The date is set for March 27th, 2010, and will be at Kiwanis Park in Tempe at 8:00 a.m.

The online registration for the run will be active this weekend. Check back soon for a link to the site.

Susan at Work?

I think so.

A friend of the Mortensen's, Tessa Patterson (14 yrs old), started a business last year making and selling cookies. Susan used to be a client (but for some reason I don't remember ever eating any of those cookies). After Susan passed away, Tessa decided to continue to make Susan's cookies and randomly deliver them to a stranger every week, or to someone she thought could use some extra cheer, along with a quick story of Susan's life.

Below is a comment left yesterday by one of the people Tessa and Susan have affected with her cookies.

"I am blown away. A beautiful young woman handed me cookies today in the parking lot of a grocery store. I hadn't shopped at that store for 6 months. She told me Susan's story and that she gives Susan's cookies to people at random. My husband has colon cancer, and is having another surgery on Monday. I cried and cried in the car. I felt like an angel was hugging me. May God bless your family and shine His light on you."
