Tribute to Susan

Friends,

Thank you so much for the prayers and kind words you have offered during Susan's illness and the past week in particular. It is awesome to see how many people love her.

Yesterday's funeral service was a beautiful experience, we are grateful to the many people who took time out of their day and those who traveled great distances to be there to honor Susan's life. We are equally grateful to the many friends who, though unable to attend in person, sent their prayers and expressions of love and support from afar.

A good friend of our family has offered to collect stories about Susan's life and how her courageous fight against cancer has blessed the lives of others. These stories bring great comfort to us all and we want to be sure that they are recorded. If you feel inspired to write down your thoughts and feelings, please send them to tributetosusan@gmail.com by 12:00 PM on Monday, December 15th so that they can be compiled into a book and printed in time for Christmas.

Many thanks,

Zach

"I have learned that a lot of things in life just don't go the way we plan. This is by no fault of our own."

I sadly learned this lesson the same way susan and justin have. My deepest sympathies to the family.

justin, I lost my wife in april to cancer.

Thank you so much for this post! My husband and I could not be there and to be able to feel the spirit of those services through this blog was amazing. These words were inspired and I do hope we can continue to feel Susan's influence!

Justin-
Zach and I were friends in college. Although Susan was a few years younger than I...I got to know her a bit. So sorry for your loss. Heavenly Father seems to take his Elect children earlier than we would like...however she is serving on the other side.
Zach-so sorry for the loss of your sister. We will keep all of you in our prayers.
Take Care-

Gosh, this is such a small world! The anonymous commenter who lost his wife in april is in my mom and dad's ward, and we just lost our baby girl in June. Justin, this is Stacie Tomlinson, I'm Rogers now, but I have been following your blog since Rachel told me about Susan. I am so sorry for your loss. You will be in our prayers for a long time. I just read a book that was really helpful for me, maybe it will be able to bring you some comfort too, it is called "The Message". Susan sounds like a wonderful woman. I am so happy you found her and were able to love her before she left this world.

With love,
Stacie

I came across your blog today as it was a blog of note on my google reader. I could not stop reading it.

I do not know your family personally, but just would like to share that Susan's story has really had an impact on me. In just the short time I spent reading it, my soul was humbled and my testimony strengthened.

The trial (although small in comparison, yet a struggle for me) that I find myself in currently has made it hard for me to see anything else. As I sat here reading I thanked the Lord for the wonderful things that he has blessed me with. I have many.

Thanks for sharing her story. You have touched many. I pray that your heart may heal and the Lord sends you much comfort this Christmas holiday.
